Question by iceiznice: How do I get “freebies” on my honeymoon?
I’ve heard of people getting upgrades or freebies by announcing that your on your honeymoon. How do I do this? Have you ever gotten freebies for your honeymoon??

Most people just say they’re on their honeymoon. However, with this econmy I don’t think a lot of places are doing that. We tried on our honeymoon, and didn’t get anything, but we still had fun.

We didn’t get anything & everyone knew we were on our way to Maui for our wedding & honeymoon. In fact the airline wouldn’t even do us a favor & check our bags 5 minutes late so we had to sit in the airport for 6 hours waiting for the next flight despite how much my husband begged & pleaded with them & said that his future wife (me) was going to kill him because he was the reason we were late LOL! The hotel didn’t give us any upgrades either but we did book the best room already anyway so I’m not sure what they could have upgraded us to, you know? Yeah, I don’t know where all these super friendly freebie giving people are because we didn’t run across any.

Most people just say that they are on their honeymoon, but it’s not really guaranteed. In addition, with this kind of an economy freebies and upgrades are happening less often. Never expect to get anything though just because you’re on your honeymoon, but it doesn’t hurt to mention it.

Have you thought about registering for your honeymoon? I have been to too weddings where the Bride and Groom registered for their honeymoon, and guests just donate money to that. Next, you can just ask to upgraded on items and if you get them great, if not then move on. Also, check online for deals, etc… This should help in the cost of the honeymoon.

We got a few freebies on our HM. We booked our trip through a travel agent and she told all of the hotels that we would be on our HM. At two of the hotels we stayed at we received a bottle of champagne. We also received a cute piece of artwork and a plant (which we couldn’t take with us because of customs). Still, it was really nice.

Being happy and excited helps. I suggest that you just ask for the freebie. It never hurts to ask.
