I worked at the hotel reception desk during the summers when I was a student so have a little experience of it

Generally asking in advance doesn’t really work (at least for the hotel). You may get a bottle or wine or a discount on a meal if you eat in the restaurant but not much else

Naturally they want to keep the better rooms until the last minute to sell for the better price!.

Therefore I would say if you don’t get much luck getting any response back in advance then wait till you get there. Upon booking in, chat to the receptionist, be nice, polite, friendly etc. Ask if the hotel is fully booked or how busy it is. (If it’s quieter then you have a better chance of course of getting an upgrade than if it is busier) Then explain that you asked in advance and you would really like to surprise your wife with the upgrade but money is tight and “would anything be possible etc etc”. Bear in mind that a lot of hotel guests are bolshy and demanding so the nice guy is a refreshing change!

Bear in mind also that depending on her level, she may not be in the position to offer upgrades, so don’t be scared to ask for her boss or someone who is authorised to make this decision (again do this in a nice manner)

I does pay to ask and to be cheeky, but in a friendly manner and use to work with us!

Before you jump, make sure you get all of the details.

Freebie offers that actually require you to shell out some payment are very tricky. Sometimes they are genuine - after all, if you are accustomed to paying full price first class airfare, a free coach class ticket can be a real score. But a lot of times, when you have to pay to get something for free, that is a red flag that a con  is at work. You should never send cash, even for postage, to a company that you don’t know. Also, keep an eye on the costs for things like postage even if you do know the company name. If they’re asking for postage to send you a free magazine, then you know something is up.

Lastly, beware giving out too much private information. There’s no reason a free beauty supplies company giving away free shampoo needs your bank account details. Protect your personal info and if you’re unsure, move on to the next beauty freebies offer.

A default student loan will affect a person’s credit report, which might hinder their chances of low interest rates when they go to apply for a mortgage or a loan. Defaulted student loans are hard to clear off of the record, but it can be managed. Before a student gets a defaulted student loan, they should notify the student loan company if there are going to be any late payments.

So is business coaching a rip off or is there genuine value in it?   As a business coach I have to admit that I may be very biased in my answer to this question, but I also don’t think that the answer is that  easy  .

Most of the time I hear business owners raving about their business coach, but occasionally you’ll hear a business owner lamenting the day they hired one.  So how can you possibly know if business coaching will work for you? 

My summation is that you need to have both a brilliant business coach and a great  ‘coachee’.

Business coaching doesn’t suit every business owner.  That’s a fact of life.  For that reason, I don’t try to offer my coaching to every business owner that asks me to tell them about it.  Reality is, not every business owner is coachable .

The worst people to try and coach are those who frequently use the words ‘I know’ .  They just know it all – there’s nothing you can teach them.  Or rather, there’s heaps you can teach them, but nothing they can learn because their mind is blocked from the possibility.  Pride is another word for it.

Other business owners are brilliant ‘coachees’.  They have an unassuming approach , they’re keen to learn, when they work with the right coach they just go from strength to strength.

The other side of the coin is that not  every business coach is well suited to your business.  For a start, you would expect any good business coach to have actually owned and operated a business.   If they haven’t done that then there’s a good chance they’re justregurgitating theory.  How can they help your business get to the next level  if they haven’t proven they can improve their own? 

Second, every business coach has areas that they are stronger in than others.  For example, as a coach, I won’t touch small item retail stores .  That’s an area I reserve for specialists .  I’m quite at home working  with manufacturers.  That’s a specialist area also but it’s an area in which I have lots of experience  .  Having said that, I work with quite a range of businesses  from printer repairs specialists to divorce lawyers.   Most business enterprises have far more in common with each other than they have differences .  They all have  four groups of stakeholders – suppliers, staff team, owners and customers  .

Finally, It’s important that you and your business coach get along together well .  Coaches can end up working closely together, and there’s nothing worse than working with someone you don’t like.  Well, OK, there are worse things, but you know what I mean.

So is business coaching a rip off?  Not if you’re the right person with the right coach.

Here is a thing about teachers, they do know a lot of things but they by no means experienced these things first hand. Due to this, their know-how is all based on many years passed when things were likely much different than they are currently. I had a few teachers who actually did nothing more than assign homework, post power points, and grade papers. To them, I can actually say I got no source of success or really any knowledge at all. It was those kinds of teachers that got me considering about a career in music ‚Äì something out of the norm and free from classroom life. I wanted to be trained under somebody who was actually out there working, and that is just what I got. 

It did not take long for me to take a side in the battle among mentors and teachers. It did not take a lot of time for me to make a recognition after experiencing a on the job training with my mentor. It enabled me to handle actual equipment and allowed me to imagine my career in the future. The need for me to focus on pictures in textbooks or deal with awkward situations is history. What I experienced actually happened during the whole course of my profession. 

Additionally, my mentor helped connect with some people who can aid me. I was able to meet the person that is now my employer and also talked to a lot of people that helped me get references for my work applications. In fact, I don’t have to do a lot of things except be me and adhere to my mentor’s guidelines. 

I am glad I made the correct choice with mentors versus teachers. I am no longer looking for a career or a difference in my life. The change that I need already exists and it is just ideal. I can only wish that others out there stop wasting time in the classroom and start living their dream in a mentorship program.
